Were the two pipe bombs planted near the McDonnell Douglas employee store in Lakewood a Fourth of July prank or something more?
Sometime from late Monday to early Wednesday, a four-inch pipe bomb exploded in a company van outside the store, said sheriff’s Deputy Gabe Ramirez.
Then Wednesday morning, the store and five neighboring houses had to be evacuated after an employee discovered a five-inch pipe bomb outside the back door. Explosives experts defused the bomb. No one was injured in either incident.
