Silicon Graphics to Unveil New Workstations: The Palo Alto-based company, aiming to stay ahead of competitors nipping at its heels, is expected to unveil today a line of workstations offering five times the three-dimensional imaging performance of its current high-end systems. “In terms of 3-D, this is a big leap,” said Ray Homan, a product manager for Silicon Graphics Inc.’s interactive systems division. “With these new systems, you can blend 3-D and 2-D objects in a fully textured 3-D environment.” The workstations, called Indigo 2 IMPACT systems, will range in price from $35,000 to about $60,000.
