Times Staff and Wire Reports

GM to Recall Cars and Parts: The Detroit auto maker announced a voluntary recall of 206,000 cars and trucks and 13,000 replacement fuel tanks because they do not meet federal safety standards. The recall is considered small by industry standards. General Motors Corp. is recalling 90,000 of the 1994-95 Chevrolet Caprice, Buick Roadmaster and Cadillac Fleetwood models for possibly faulty accelerator pedals. GM has also targeted 116,000 of the 1990-93 Buick Riviera, Cadillac Eldorado and Oldsmobile Toronados because front shoulder belts may get stuck in the retractors, and 13,000 replacement tanks manufactured for the 1975-91 full-size C/K and R/V pickup trucks for possibly bad projection welds.
