ORANGE COUNTY ALMANAC : Irvine’s Name Game

Share

Irvine’s roots go back to 1887, when the Irvine family deeded property to the Santa Fe Railroad for a train stop to be known as Irvine Station.

The name was changed to Myford Station in honor of Myford Irvine, the son of James Irvine Jr., but most people still called it Irvine. The town’s name was officially changed to Irvine in 1914.
