The lure of healthy living held a strong attraction for many early residents of Garden Grove and was used to promote the fledgling community.

One promotional flyer used the power of negative thinking to draw residents, advertising that there was “no malaria, no dust, no bad water, no intemperance, no stagnant water and no debilitating heat.”
