Taiwan, Vietnam Accommodation Reported: The two nations have agreed to grant each other preferential trade treatment, known as most-favored-nation status, a Taiwanese newspaper reported. Taiwan Economics Minister Chiang Pin-kun reached the agreement with Vietnamese officials at a meeting Thursday, the United Daily News reported in a dispatch from Hanoi. The most-favored designation means nations grant each other low-tariff benefits on imports. Taiwan also agreed to allow in 2,000 Vietnamese guest workers this year, and both sides committed to signing comprehensive trade and labor pacts to remove trade and investment barriers, the report said.
