American Vanguard Profits Jump Sharply in 2nd Quarter

American Vanguard Corp., a Newport Beach company with chemical and environmental consulting subsidiaries, reported second quarter net income of $284,300, or 12 cents a share, compared with $42,400, or 1 cent a share, for the comparable 1994 period. Sales gained 14% to $13.5 million from $11.8 million. For the first half, the company recorded a profit of $206,800, or 9 cents a share, contrasted with a net loss of $15,600, or 1 cent a share, for the 1994 first half. Sales rose 22% to $23.7 million from $19.5 million.
