No Truth, Beauty in Politics

Share

“Promises, Promises” (Aug. 2) reminds me of an ancient quote:

“Neither those who love truth nor those who love beauty can care for politics, which cares not for beauty nor for truth.”

Was it ever more true than it is today? The arts are being systematically destroyed, which takes care of beauty. And as for truth, what politician could get anywhere today by being honest? His allegiance is to the lobbyists who bankroll his campaign. That leaves the little people, like you and me, to be duped.

Do you wonder the American people have become cynical?
