School Libraries

* Your Aug. 8 editorial (“Backing Books With Tax Dollars”) says on taxpayers “need to consider the tremendous value of the local library. Are more city/county consolidations in order?”

It seems timely to consider the feasibility and the usage enhancement potentials in a expanded facilitation of all high school libraries (definite community fare) during and after regular school hours for the general public.

It will not only promote student participation in the library program, it will allow fuller use of a facility otherwise going to waste when school is not in session. After all, local libraries are a luxury item.
