San Fernando : Senior Meal Program Celebrates Reopening

The city of San Fernando will celebrate the second anniversary of the reopening of the Las Palmas Park Senior Nutrition Program on Thursday.

The meal program for seniors 60 and older was moved to San Fernando Senior Center in 1990 but was reinstated at Las Palmas Park in 1993 because of community need. Initially serving 20 to 30 meals three days a week, the program has expanded to serve 50 to 65 meals five days a week.

Anniversary festivities, planned from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., will include a buffet-style luncheon and Latin dance music by Ramiro y Miguel. Suggested donation is $1.25 per person. For reservations, call (818) 898-7340.
