Ex-Police Officer Charged With Molesting Boys
A Sunland man who was a Beverly Hills police officer has been charged with sexually molesting two teen-age boys, authorities disclosed Monday.
David Beckstrom, 35, resigned from the department a few days after his arrest by Los Angeles Police Department officers, said Beverly Hills Police Lt. Jim Smith.
Beckstrom was arrested after two teen-age boys came to the Hollywood Division station and told police that Beckstrom, a 10-year veteran, had molested them, said LAPD Officer Manny Valladares.
Valladares said police presented the case to the district attorney’s office, which issued an arrest warrant for Beckstrom. He was taken into custody at the headquarters of the Beverly Hills Police Department about 2 1/2 weeks ago.
Beckstrom is free on $50,000 bail, Valladares added.
Smith said the department is stunned by the allegations. “It’s never happened in the 30 years I’ve been here,” he said. “The officers here are basically good officers.”
