Temporary Workers’ Pay Rises 2% Since 1989: People placed by temporary help firms saw little change in their wages in the five years ended last November, as rapid growth in blue-collar jobs held down overall earnings among temporary workers, the Labor Department said. The department said the workers--who are supplied to client companies but paid by temporary employment agencies--earned an average of $7.74 an hour in November, 1994, up from $7.59 in October, 1989. The rise was well behind the 17% increase private industry workers received over the period.
