Peace Celebration Is Scheduled for Meditation Mount

A daylong peace celebration will be held Saturday at Meditation Mount near Ojai in honor of the annual United Nations International Day of Peace.

Hosted by the nonprofit Meditation Groups Inc., the event will include workshops focusing on conflict resolution, unconditional love and forgiveness, and time for meditation on peace.

The official International Day of Peace commemorated by the United Nations General Assembly is Sept. 19, the opening day of its annual session. In 1981, the United Nations passed a resolution that established the International Day of Peace on the third Tuesday in September and asked member states and organizations, regional groups and individuals to observe the day through education and other activities.

The Ojai observance will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and, although free to the public, voluntary donations will be accepted.

Meditation Mount, a Tibetan-style center with tile roofs, is east of Ojai at the end of Reeves Road.
