Re “Implant Recipients Urge Punishment of Dow Corning” (Aug. 24): Count me in! After a mastectomy, four sets of implants, an impending explantation, myriad symptoms, illness and hospitalizations that have robbed me of my health, lifestyle, business and profession, I feel violated by the continual “corporate coddling” on the part of the government, politicians, medicine and media.

Women are sick and dying from silicone poisoning, but no one is accountable--except the women who, regardless of the reason paid to have implants put in, paid to have them taken out and will continue to pay with their health for the rest of their lives. Meanwhile, Dow Corning, a viable company, is allowed to hide under the umbrella of bankruptcy while doing business in order to avoid product responsibility. What is wrong with this picture?
