Golden Systems to Pursue Scottish Partnership

Share

Golden Systems Inc., a Simi Valley maker of computer power supplies, said it has entered into a letter of intent to pursue a partnership with a Scottish firm, Magnum Power PLC.

The agreement will allow Golden Systems to meld technology developed by Magnum into the power supplies that Golden Systems makes for the personal-computer industry.

The value of the agreement was not released. A Golden Systems sales and marketing senior vice president described the partnership as a “marriage of technology” rather than a financial exchange.

The enhanced power supplies act like a battery, allowing computers to continue functioning during a power outage, protecting against losses of data.

Golden Systems, whose sales dipped 65% in the fiscal first quarter that ended June 30, compared to the previous year, has been hit hard by a drop in orders from its chief customer, Compaq Corp. of Houston.
