BALTIMORE — Pope John Paul II plans to break bread with the poorest of the poor at a church-run soup kitchen after celebrating Mass with thousands of worshipers in Baltimore next month.
The Pope will visit Our Daily Bread during his one-day stop in Baltimore Oct. 8, a trip organizer said, speaking on condition of anonymity. The soup kitchen is next to the Basilica of the Assumption, the seat of the Baltimore Archdiocese.
The archdiocese refused to confirm the report. Church officials said Cardinal William Keeler will announce an addition to the pope’s schedule today.
