How about the one where the judge used to work for the defense attorney; a lead detective made disparaging remarks about his former captain, who just happened to be the judge’s wife; the same detective apparently had an affair with a key witness, and various other connections seem to exist between all of these people, the victims and the accused?

Nah! Totally unbelievable.
