World IN BRIEF : MEXICO : Gunmen Slay 7 Officers in Ambush

Unidentified gunmen ambushed police outside an isolated village in the southern state of Guerrero, reportedly killing at least seven officers and wounding three others. The state-run Notimex news agency said 12 masked gunmen opened fire with automatic weapons on a group of 13 police officers answering a telephoned call for help. The mountainous region in Guerrero has long been the site of bloody clashes between peasants and police.
