AT&T; May Cut More Jobs in Breakup: Basking Ridge, N.J.-based AT&T; Corp. may cut more than 20,000 jobs by late next year as part of its plan to split into three companies, a published report said. But the firm said it is just beginning to consider the restructuring, announced last week, and that it could not say how many jobs will be cut. The Wall Street Journal cited unidentified industry experts and AT&T; insiders for the projection. The three companies will focus on communications services, communications equipment manufacturing and computers. When it announced the breakup, AT&T; said it would immediately eliminate 8,500 jobs from its computer manufacturing arm.
