CLUB REVIEW : Dining Room a Stately Place at the Head of the Class

Share
SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

The Dining Room is one swanky joint.

The stately supper club of the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel is so effortlessly classy it makes other upscale clubs around town look like mere wanna-bes.

Perhaps it’s the old school charm of the place, which was built in 1928 and renovated in the late ‘80s. Can’t beat 18-foot ceilings to add an airy, decadent feel to a space that’s already airy and decadent. Then there’s the clientele--gorgeously tailored older couples, with the ladies sporting furs and extravagant diamonds.

On Fridays and Saturdays, the Dining Room features the soothing jazz and swing of the Arthur Hanlon Trio, which treats diners and dancers to lovely renditions of such standards as Duke Ellington’s “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore” and Perez Prado’s “Mambo, No. 5.” Ultimately, you can expect a delightfully romantic night out.
