Almost Everyone Has Questions About Agents

Jennifer Wood [Viewpoint, Sept. 30] asks of USC Coach John Robinson, “Why should anything happen to the agents? They were just doing their jobs.”

Does she think that wrecking those athletes’ college careers is just doing their jobs? Are the words unethical and immoral in her vocabulary? I think not.

Can you please explain how the USA Boxing Committee can even consider suspending Fernando Vargas from the Olympic boxing team for signing with an agent? Magic, Jordan and Carl Lewis all have agents and managers and were allowed to compete. The USA Boxing Committee should realize that the Olympics are no longer for the world’s best amateurs, but for the world’s greatest athletes.
