PepsiCo to Introduce Chips: PepsiCo Foods International said it hopes to hit the $2-billion sales mark in the Asia-Pacific region by the year 2000 with plans to begin selling cheeseless Cheetos in Shanghai this month and potato chips in China by next year. The subsidiary of PepsiCo Inc. sells about $450 million worth of snacks in the Asia-Pacific region but expects to double its sales there each year during the next five years, said Tom Kuthy, vice president of marketing in Singapore. The cheeseless Cheetos--they are made in flavors such as fish or steak that appeal to Chinese tastes--were introduced in Guangzhou last year.
