World IN BRIEF : ISRAEL : Iranian Charged in Hijacking of Plane

A Justice Ministry spokeswoman confirmed that Israel has charged an Iranian who hijacked a plane last month with air piracy. Israel’s Haaretz newspaper reported that Reza Jabari, a 29-year-old steward on the Iranian airliner, was charged in a district court in the southern town of Beersheba. Jabari asked for asylum after hijacking a domestic Iranian flight to an airfield in southern Israel on Sept. 19.
