DuPont to Join in Polyester Yarn Venture: DuPont China Ltd. said it will form a joint venture with Chinese, Japanese and British companies to produce polyester yarn in China. The venture, DuPont Suzhou Polyester Co., will build and operate a $115-million plant in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, with an annual capacity of 66,000 metric tons. The plant will supply polyester chip and filament yarn mainly for the Chinese market, beginning in mid-1997. DuPont said it will be the largest individual investor in the joint venture and the operating partner. The other partners are Suzhou Chemical Fiber Co., Mitsubishi Corp., Chemtex Corp. and the International Finance Corp., a member of the World Bank. A breakdown of the partners’ stakes was not available.
