United Western Medical Centers: The Santa Ana hospital holding company announced a management shake-up, naming Andrea Kofl, formerly chief operating officer of its Santa Ana hospital, to head hospital operations at the holding company. The company said it is eliminating the positions of chief operating officer and chief financial officer at the Santa Ana institution.

The announcement came on the heels of a report last week that Daniel L. Frank, chief executive at both of the company’s Santa Ana and Anaheim hospitals, had left the company.

Douglas Drumwright, the holding company’s chief executive, said Thursday the changes should give managers of clinical programs more decision-making authority. Kofl, who was chief operating officer at Santa Ana hospital from December, 1990, through July of this year, worked most recently as administrator of the Santa Ana/Tustin Physicians Group. A spokeswoman said Kofl’s new job title hasn’t been determined.
