Attacking Halloween Is Frightening

* I am so sick and tired of fundamentalist groups and their obsession with the innocent fun of Halloween. (“Many Regard Halloween Celebration as Frightful,” Oct. 31).

My 20-month-old son has been labeled a “bloodthirsty Satanist” because he wore a clown costume, visited his neighborhood friends on Halloween night and received treats! Give me a break! I find it frightening that these so-called Christians have nothing better to do in their time spent in church than to devote it to fretting over an opportunity for their children to dress up and go door-to-door for free candy.

These people’s time would be better served if they took up a more urgent need in the community, like organizing a youth ministry in a gang-infested neighborhood.
