Parents Need to Keep Children Safe
* This letter is in response to the 9-year-old girl in Lake Forest who was raped Oct. 21.
I do hope that she is all right, but unfortunately this horrible experience will be staying with her the rest of her life.
All I’m hearing and reading is what should be done about it by the city and police department.
I am sure that everything possible will be done to catch the man. However, cutting down trees in the park and installing more lights will not deter the sick-minded molesters on the prowl.
Parents need to be held responsible and accountable for their children and not look for government agencies to provide for their personal safety.
Twenty-two years ago I would not let my daughter walk home by herself at night any more than I would let a child out at night in today’s society. I thought things were bad then, but the lack of safety certainly has gotten worse now.
