SANTA PAULA : Meeting to Focus on Federal Farm Programs
The U.S. Department of Agriculture will hold a public meeting Monday in Santa Paula to discuss federal farm programs.
Frank C. Van Brocklin, executive director of the county Farm Service Agency, will host the meeting, which will focus primarily on the new Non-Insured Crop Disaster Assistance Program and the Federal Crop Insurance Program.
These programs provide assistance to eligible farmers who have suffered at least a 50% loss of production.
In Ventura County, the Federal Crop Insurance Program covers lemons, oranges, grapefruit and tomatoes. All other crops fall under the Non-Insured Crop Disaster Assistance Program, said Becky Sims, program assistant for the Farm Service Agency.
The meeting will also discuss other federal farm programs, and will be held at the Santa Paula Community Center, 530 W. Main St. It will start at 8:30 a.m.
