A FROND IN NEED

Share

Given that the palm tree is a Southern California symbol, the current state of our palms is atrocious (“The Architect of Paradise,” by Dave Gardetta, Oct. 1). Along our streets, freeways and beaches, almost all need major trimming. Knowledgeable tree people say the trees’ dead fronds indicate that they haven’t been maintained in more than 10 years.

Messy palm trees may reflect our current budget woes and the fading of Southern California’sgolden years. Yet, I’m hoping that these trees can be trimmed to display their beauty and and at the same time acknowledge all that’s good about Southern California.
