From her arsenal of headwear, Morrison must have chosen her fuzzy-thinking hat when she wrote: “Los Angeles can ride out big events. A riot, an earthquake, a fire . . . . Acts of God seem to strengthen us, but acts of man eat away at us.”

Well, an earthquake is an act of God, and a fire may be an act of God or of man. But a riot is most definitely an act of man.
