THOUSAND OAKS : 5 Former Mayors to Discuss General Plan

Share

Five former Thousand Oaks mayors who helped shape the city’s growth will discuss the General Plan governing development tonight at a meeting of the Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Land Use Committee.

Carroll Bowen, Charles Cohen, Alex Fiore, Ray Garcia and Ed Jones will review the history of the plan, which provides a blueprint for growth within the city. The plan and restrictions it places on developers have become part of the protracted debate at Planning Commission meetings over the Seventh-day Adventist project in Newbury Park.

Gary Koppenjan, the chamber’s communications manager, said the meeting is part of an effort to educate the community on the General Plan’s origins and effect on the city’s shape.

“Because people are talking about the General Plan so much, it’s a chance to go back and see where we’ve been and where we’re going,” he said.

The meeting will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the chamber’s office at 625 W. Hillcrest Drive. The meeting is open to chamber members but not to the public.
