U.S. Seeks Records From Cotton Exporter: Federal agents demanded business records from Dunavant Enterprises Inc., one of the world’s largest cotton merchants. Authorities made similar demands for records last week at the Allenberg Cotton Co., another Memphis-based cotton trader. They would not say whether the two cases are related. The government did not disclose what documents it was seeking from Dunavant. It said only that the investigation involved a cotton export program administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The company said it is cooperating with the government’s demands.
