COSTA MESA : Water District Plans Performance Reviews

Share

Directors of the Mesa Consolidated Water District will meet in closed session today to review performances and discuss salary increases for several of the district’s managers.

No review of Karl Kemp, district general manager, will be conducted now, board President Trudy Ohlig said.

Members of a citizen watchdog group have asked the board to consider several factors before conducting Kemp’s review.

Specifically, the Coalition for Clean Water-Costa Mesa has stated that Kemp should be held accountable for two sexual harassment cases that the district paid $170,000 to settle and for several problems with the district’s new reservoir, which required installation of mufflers because noise from its water pumps was disturbing nearby residents.

Ohlig said she will urge the board to put off the general manager’s review until a consulting firm has completed an independent evaluation of the reservoir.

Ohlig said the report from engineering firm Corrao and Brady Group will be completed by year’s end.
