30-Year Fixed Mortgage Rates Dip: Thirty-year, fixed-rate mortgages averaged 7.35% this week, down from 7.37% last week, according to a national survey by the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp. It was the lowest since Feb. 24, 1994, when rates averaged 7.32%. Rates have fallen steadily since a high of 9.25% the week of Nov. 23, 1994. On one-year adjustable rate mortgages, lenders were asking an average initial rate of 5.65%, up from 5.64% last week.
