The Carl Lewis of the equine world, he wasn’t.

Firefighters had to use sledgehammers and a battering ram Saturday night to rescue a horse that became trapped between two walls after jumping from its corral in Lake View Terrace, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said.

The horse leaped from its pen about 7 p.m. and landed on its side between a 6-foot-high wall and a 3-foot-high wall in the 11000 block of North Christy Avenue, Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells said.

“The horse was never in any danger of dying,” Wells said. “It was just hurt a little bit and trapped in there and needed help getting out.”

The horse, which suffered minor injuries, was given a sedative by a veterinarian during the rescue, Wells said.
