Agriculture Imports From U.S. Rise 279% Through August: For the eight-month period, the United States exported $1.93 billion worth of agricultural goods to China, up from $693 million the year before, the U.S. Commerce Department said. Exports under the category of grains and feeds, including wheat, corn and processed livestock feed, jumped to $809.3 million from $116.5 million for the first eight months of the year, the Department reported. U.S. agricultural sales to China may be higher than shown by the statistics, with much product smuggled in, particularly from Hong Kong. China’s food exports to the United States are up 18% in the first eight months of the year, to $344.9 million from $291.8 million.
