California Home Foreclosures Reach New High: Lenders began to foreclose on 12,904 California homeowners in October, a 33.8% increase from October, 1994, and the highest number of foreclosures ever recorded, according to Dataquick, a provider of real estate information. The previous monthly high was 12,232 in March. The high rate of foreclosures is expected to continue through next year as lenders try to to clear their portfolios of troubled real estate loans, Dataquick said.
