A Credit Card for Gays?: Does a special credit card for gay, lesbian and bisexual consumers make sense? Visa, Subaru, Travelers Bank and Martina Navratilova all think so. They’ve joined together to give the world the Rainbow Card--a Visa credit card that donates a portion of all charges to a new nonprofit gay rights and research charity. Domestic partners can use their two salaries to apply jointly for a card, just as a married couple might. The card also aims to let merchants see the spending power of gays. The card bears a wide-angle photo of the 1993 gay rights march on Washington, and Navratilova boasts that the card is a good way to “harness the economic power of our community.”
