Volunteers : Helping hands : ANAHEIM : Program to Pick Homes to Improve

Share

Paint Your Heart Out Anaheim, a program that provides free home improvements to low-income seniors and disabled residents, has requests from about 100 homeowners for help this year.

“This is the biggest waiting list we’ve had,” program coordinator Carolyn Griebe said. “I anticipate this is going to be our best year.”

Applications are being accepted through Dec. 31 for the sixth annual project, a program of the Anaheim Community Foundation and the city Community Development Department.

Forty homes will be selected by March 1 for make-overs. The work, including exterior painting and minor repairs, will be done in April and May. Hundreds of volunteers work on the project each year, and merchants donate paint, lumber and other construction materials.
