Employment Surge Boosts Outlook: The number of Australians with jobs jumped a record 112,000 in November, bolstering the outlook for economic growth and easing the likelihood of interest rate cuts ahead of an election, economists in Canberra said. The unemployment rate eased slightly to 8.6% in November from 8.7% the previous month, official figures show. Australia’s Labor government, gearing up for the election, has campaigned heavily on job creation.
