Ford Signs Agreement for Plant in Belarus: The Dearborn, Mich.-based auto maker said it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Belarussian government to assemble vehicles from kits in the capital of Minsk. Ford Motor Co. officials said an agreement to begin building cars and light trucks in Belarus for sale throughout the former Soviet Union is likely to be signed in a matter of months. They said it is expected to be patterned after a Ford plant in Poland where cars also are made from imported kits. Ford officials have still to decide whether to build a new factory or move into an existing factory in Minsk.
