WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Texas Arlington Outshoots UCI

Texas Arlington shot 62% from the field and defeated UC Irvine, 78-72, in a nonconference women’s basketball game Thursday in Arlington, Tex.

UCI’s Allah-mi Basheer had 30 points and eight rebounds and Tamera Thomas added 14 points. But the Anteaters (4-4), who trailed, 28-27, at halftime, made only 42% from the field and had 17 turnovers.

In another nonconference game:

USC 68, Long Beach State 59--USC outscored Long Beach State, 40-24, in the second half en route to victory at Long Beach State.

Ja’net Davis scored 12 points to lead Long Beach State (3-4).
