Mexico to Invest in Baja California: Mexico’s federal government plans to spend $200 million in the northern state of Baja California next year to improve roadways, waterways and water- and sewage-treatment plants. Some federal funds will be used to build water-treatment plants and start a cleanup program in the bay of Ensenada near the U.S.-Mexico border, the president’s office said. The government also plans to repair an aqueduct linking the cities of Tijuana and Mexicali. Sewage projects in five municipalities will also be funded with federal funds, as well as projects to build or complete new roads in Baja California, such as the Rumorosa-Tecate roadway or the Mexicali bypass. The Mexican government is also planning to improve roads in the central state of Hidalgo.
