Sow/plant/harvest in cold frame where there are freezes.
Sow: Broccoli, cabbages, green onions (except in deserts and mountains), radishes, spinach (except in high desert and mountains). Also sow radishes (except in the mountains).
Harvest: Green garlic, onions, shallots, radishes, winter greens and herbs, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, celeriac, leafy celery, peas (except in mountains), also brussels sprouts (except in interior climates where fuchsias won’t grow and mountains).
COASTAL CLIMATES
Sow: Beets, broccoli, cauliflower, chard, kohlrabi, salad greens, all peas, turnips.
LOW DESERT
Sow: Carrots, chard, salad greens.
Plant: Potatoes.
Harvest: Beets, kohlrabi, turnips.
INTERIOR CLIMATES
(Where fuchsias won’t grow)
Sow: Broccoli, cabbages, onions, all peas.
(Where fuchsias grow fairly well)
Sow: Beets, broccoli, cabbages, carrots, cauliflower, chard, kohlrabi, onions, all peas, salad greens, turnips.
KEY
Winter greens and herbs: arugula, cabbage, chard, chervil, chicories, Chinese cabbages, chives, cilantro, collards, corn salad, cress, dandelion, endive, green-in-the-snow mustard, green onions, shallots, kale, komatsuna (mustard spinach), winter lettuces, mizuna, parsley, rosette pak choi, sorrel, spinach.
When seeds can be sown, seedlings of the same crop can be planted. All crops can be grown in containers.
