CANTOR CONCERTS: Concerts at two San Fernando Valley synagogues this month will feature music performed by noted cantors.

Six cantors from the United States, Canada and Israel will appear Sunday night at Valley Beth Shalom, 15739 Ventura Blvd., Encino, an event hosted by two of the performers--Herschel Fox of Valley Beth Shalom and his wife, Judy Fox, who is cantor at the Synagogue for Performing Arts in Los Angeles.

The program also includes Moshe Stern of Jerusalem and Yaakov Motzen of Montreal. Admission is $18. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Information: (818) 360-5944.

On Jan. 20 at Temple Aliyah in Woodland Hills, 11 cantors from synagogues in Southern and Northern California will perform, including Linda Rich-Freed of the host congregation. Also on the program are the University of Judaism Concert Singers. Admission is $20 for the 8 p.m. event, which is co-sponsored by the Cantors Assembly Western Region. Information: (818) 346-3545.

MUSLIM DINNER: Hassan Hathout, director of outreach for the Islamic Center of Southern California, will speak on “Building the Muslim Mind” at 7 p.m. today at a fund-raising banquet for the Muslim Public Library in Canoga Park.

The dinner and talk will be at the Canoga Park Women’s Club, 7401 Jordan Ave., which is two blocks from the privately operated library at 7219 Jordan Ave. Tickets are $50. Information: (818) 883-1635.

BOAR’S HEAD: Though a bit late, an English Christmas festival will be held Sunday morning at Woodland Hills United Methodist Church, 5650 Shoup Ave.

The Boar’s Head and Yule Log Festival, usually held between Christmas and Epiphany (Jan. 6) but rescheduled because of delays, will be presented by the church’s choir during the 9:45 a.m. worship service. Information: (818) 346-6526.

GUEST SPEAKER: Rabbi Alan Silverstein, international president of the New York-based Rabbinical Assembly, will be guest speaker at Encino’s Valley Beth Shalom for services at 8:15 p.m. Friday and 8:45 a.m. next Saturday. Silverstein’s sermons will be drawn from two of his books: “It All Begins With a Date” and “Preserving the Jewishness in Your Family.”
