MCA-Morris Record Label Changes Name: As expected, Rising Tide Records, the New York-based joint venture label that MCA launched last summer with music industry veteran Doug Morris, has been renamed Universal Records. Morris, who is now chairman of MCA Music Entertainment Group, is expected to appoint Jocelyn Cooper-Gilstrap as senior vice president and Daniel Glass to the post of executive vice president. Will Botwin, manager of acclaimed artists such as Liz Phair, will take over as head of the label’s talent division. The new firm, now owned completely by MCA, will be combined with MCA’s Uptown Records, whose new president will be Heavy D.
