Reseda : Restaurant Gets OK on Alcohol Sales
Despite objections from an adjacent church and school, a Reseda restaurant will be permitted to serve alcohol, the Los Angeles Board of Zoning Appeals ruled Tuesday.
Allen Shaw, owner of the 7-month-old Pacific Grill, said he was pleased with the decision and foresaw no further tensions between the restaurant and St. Catherine of Siena, a Catholic church and elementary school that sought to block the liquor license.
“It turned out very good and we’re happy,” he said. “There’s no hard feelings now.”
The church, situated across the street from the Hawaiian-themed restaurant, appealed the liquor license because of Pacific Grill’s intention to serve alcohol as early as 6 a.m.
After parents and parish officials objected, Shaw agreed to delay daily liquor sales until 10 a.m. The restaurant seats about 80 people and is open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekends, Shaw said.
“I’m trying to give something to the community that it direly needs,” he said.
