Censuring the Censors

Share

Who is it who decides that the theme of Bruce Springsteen’s “Sinaloa Cowboys” is considered far too serious for radio consumption (“1995: Nothing but a She Thing,” Dec. 30)?

Who is the censor to make these decisions for the public? Especially when we have been subjected to the violent, insulting, demeaning trash that has come to us via radio and television for so long? Why shouldn’t truths about the vitally important subject of America’s growing underclass be given airplay, especially by a superstar such as Springsteen?
