Hats Off to a Way Cool Cap

We recently saw someone wearing what has to be the coolest Hollywood vanity baseball cap of the moment. No, not one advertising the mega-flop “Cutthroat Island,” although, come to think of it, that could be a real collector’s item someday.

This black chapeau read: DreamWorks SKG Playa del Rey.” We instantly coveted one for ourselves, so we called DreamWorks SKG. (The entertainment company is still parked in North Hollywood, years away from its Playa del Rey home.)

“We don’t sell them yet, and we don’t even have a public company store,” said the voice on the phone, adding that the hats were available only “if you know someone who works here.”

Paris Lite: And now a health note from Paris.

Emile Tabourdiau, executive chef of the Bristol Hotel in Paris, is here presenting the Bristol’s specialties in the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel dining room through next Sunday and we were amazed to peruse his menu.

Chock-full of red snapper, sea bass, white fish, turbot, salmon, lobster, shrimp and sea scallops, it seemed more L.A. than City of Lights. More surprising was Tabourdiau’s vow that he uses “very little” butter or cream.

“There is a lighter, more health-conscious trend worldwide where you avoid fat, even in Paris,” said Pierre Ferchaud, Bristol’s president, adding: “Well, not avoid it completely, but be more reasonable about it.”

Proof’s in the Beans: The building is still a dream, but there is tangible proof that the Walt Disney Concert Hall exists, at least in concept.

Among the leftover Christmas goodies piled in the office of a powerful friend in the arts this month were assorted flavored jelly beans in a mass-produced Walt Disney Concert Hall cardboard box.

Oh yeah, we liked the toasted marshmallow flavor more than the bubble gum.
