People : Spotlight on achievers : Hero to Be Honored at Benefit Dinner
A local hero and the senior citizen he rescued will be honored at a benefit dinner Feb. 1.
Last October, Bernice Colopy suffered a heart attack while driving on Interstate 5 in Lake Forest. She managed to stop her car before slumping unconscious over the steering wheel.
Dan Sforza discovered the woman inside her locked vehicle. He smashed a window, pulled Colopy out of the car and administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation until an ambulance arrived.
Doctors credit Sforza’s quick response with saving the 73-year-old Laguna Hills resident’s life.
For more information about the dinner, which will benefit the Saddleback Heart Institute and Wellness Center, call (714) 452-3963.
